Group Home (GH)
Initial Certification Training Program was designed for people who wish to become Administrators Children’s Facilities (Group Home) and Children’s Programs for clients 0 years through 18 years of age and Non Minor Dependents (NMD – 18 years through 20 years)
An individual shall be a Group Home residential facility certificate holder prior to being employed as an Administrator. Initial Certification Training Program curriculum was designed to incorporate the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Requirements, for administrators. Per Title 22, Division 6, Chapter 5, Section 84064.2. Title 22, Division 6, Chapter 1, General Licensing Regulations,
The Initial training program is a 40-hour instruction program required to be completed by persons who wish to become certified for the first time.
The Course contents are as outlined below:
Day 1
Laws & Regulations: 6 hours
Physical Needs: 2 hours
Day 2
Business Operations: 4 hours
Psych/Social & Education Needs: 3 hours
Safety of Foster Youth: 1 hour
Day 3
Management/Supervision of Staff: 4 hours
Emergency Intervention Non-Violent: 4 hours
Day 4
Admission & Assessment Retention: 5 hours
Community & Support Services: 3 hours
Day 5
Medication: 6 hours
Cultural Competency: 1 hour
Sexual and Reproductive Health: 1 Hour
